Packaging for your cards

Every deck ships packed one of four ways. Two of them carry your own artwork: the tuck box and the foil pack.

You choose the packaging when you order, deck by deck. It's the first thing anyone sees, so it's worth a moment's thought, especially for a gift.

The four options

Custom tuck box

A printed cardboard box with a tuck-in lid, like the one a deck of playing cards comes in. Your art goes on every outside surface: front, back, sides and lid.

Sealed foil booster pack

18 cards sealed in a crimped foil pack with your art printed on it. Tearing one open is half the fun of trading cards.

Sports cards

Clear plastic case

A hard, clear plastic box that shows off the top card. It protects the cards and suits sports cards and collectible sets. The case itself is plain.

Least expensive

Shrink-wrap

The deck is sealed in clear plastic, ready to deal. The least expensive way to print, and it works for any deck size.

The tuck box

The tuck box is designed in the same editor as your cards, so it can use the same art, fonts and colors. Ask the assistant and it will design one to match your deck, or lay it out yourself.

The box is sized to your deck. A 36-card deck gets a slimmer box than a 108-card one, and you don't have to work out the dimensions. Tuck boxes come in poker and tarot sizes.

What fits what

Each project prints at poker size (2.5 × 3.5 inches) or tarot size (2.75 × 4.75 inches). Not every package comes in both.

Why Thick has lower limits Thick cards make a taller stack, so fewer of them fit in the same case or box. If your deck doesn't fit, you'll be told when you order, along with what would fit instead. See card stock and finishes.

Which should I choose?

A gift

A custom tuck box. It looks finished, it can carry a name or a message, and it keeps the cards together after they're opened.

Trading cards

Foil packs for the opening moment, especially for a party or for handing out to friends. A tuck box if the cards are a single deck to play with.

Sports cards

A clear plastic case for a team set, so the top card is on display.

Playing cards, tarot, flashcards and trivia

A tuck box for a deck that gets carried around and played with. Shrink-wrap if you're printing several copies for yourself and want to keep the cost down.

Questions

Can I design my own card box?

Yes. The tuck box is designed in the same editor as your cards, and the assistant can design it to match the deck. It's sized to fit however many cards your deck has.

How many cards fit in a foil booster pack?

18. Foil packs are made for poker-size cards and hold up to 18 cards each, so an 18-card deck fills one pack.

Which packaging works for tarot cards?

A custom tuck box or shrink-wrap. Foil packs and clear plastic cases are made for poker-size cards only.

What is the least expensive way to pack my cards?

Shrink-wrap. The deck is sealed in clear plastic and ready to deal, with no box to design.
