What people make

Who they're for
Teachers
A deck for this term's vocabulary, sight words, or a unit on the planets. Print one deck per table, or one per student.
Parents
Words your child is learning, in a language your family speaks, with pictures of things from your own home.
Students
Revision cards for an exam: terms on one side, definitions on the other. Easier to carry than a notebook.
Hobbyists and teams
A pocket guide to birds, knots, wine regions or your own product line. Anything that's a list can be a deck.
How it works
Bring your list
Paste words, terms or questions, or describe the topic and let the assistant suggest the list.
Get a card for each item
It designs one layout and fills in a card for every entry, with a picture where it helps.
Check and change
Fix a word, swap a picture or change the colours in the editor. Every card is yours to edit.
Print the deck
Choose the card stock and packaging, and the deck is printed and shipped to you.
Things to ask for
Type it the way you'd say it. These all work as a first message:
- "Spanish flashcards for my second graders: 40 animals and foods, a photo on each card and the word underneath."
- "Flashcards for the eight planets, with one fun fact each, for a class of ten-year-olds."
- "Here's my biology glossary. Put the term on the front and the definition on the back."
- "A pocket guide to the 30 birds we see in our garden, with a picture and how to recognise each one."
Made to be handled
Flashcards get shuffled, dropped and passed around. Pick a card stock that suits how they'll be used. Compare card stocks.
A size that fits a hand
Cards are the standard 2.5 × 3.5 inches, with rounded or square corners. Small enough for a pocket, big enough for a picture and a word.
Thick
Our thickest cards stand up to a class of small hands. Gloss is available at no extra cost.
A box they live in
A custom tuck box keeps a deck together on the shelf, with the topic printed on the side. See packaging.
Questions
Can I put the answer on the back of each card?
Yes. You design the front and the back. Put the word or question on the front and the answer on the back, or keep both on the front for quick review.
Do I have to find the pictures myself?
No. Upload your own photos if you have them. Where you don't, the assistant makes a picture for each card in the style you describe.
How many cards can a deck have?
Decks come in sizes from 18 to 216 cards. If your list doesn't fill a size exactly, the spare cards can hold extra words or a title card.
Can I make several copies for a class?
Yes. Order as many copies of the deck as you need, for example one per table or one per student.
Which card stock is best for flashcards?
For young children, Thick or Premium Smooth hold up best. For students carrying a deck in a bag, Standard or Premium Linen keep the deck slim.
